Question 29: Why is the Son of God called Jesus, that is, Savior?
Answer: Because He delivers us from our sins and saves us1; and because no salvation is to be sought in any other2.
1Matt. 1:21, And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins.
Heb.7:25, Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.

John 15:4,5, Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
1Tim. 2:5, For [there is] one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;
Isa. 43:11, I, [even] I, [am] the LORD; and beside me [there is] no saviour.
1Jn. 5:11, And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
Question 30: Do such, then, believe in the only Savior Jesus who seek their salvation and welfare of saints, of themselves, or anywhere else?
Answer: They do not; for though they boast of Him in words, yet in deeds they deny Jesus the only Savior Jesus1; for one of two things must be true: either Jesus is not a complete Savior; or they who by a true faith receive this Savior must find in Him all things necessary to their salvation2.
11 Cor. 1:13, 31, Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?; That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.
Gal. 5:4, Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
2Heb. 12:2, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of [our] faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Isa. 9:6-7, For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon His kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.
Col. 1:19-20, For it pleased the Father that in Him should all fulness dwell; and, having made peace through the blood of His cross, by Him to reconcile all things unto Himself; by Him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.
Col. 2:10, And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
1Jn. 1:7, But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
