Question 20: Are all men, then, saved by Christ as they perished through Adam?
Answer: No1; only those who by a true faith are ingrafted into Him and receive all His benefits2.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life... He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God... He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

Heb. 4:3; 5:9; For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world... And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;
Heb.10:39; 11:6, . But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul... But without faith [it is] impossible to please [him]: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and [that] he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
Question 21: What is true faith?
Answer: True faith is not only a sure knowledge, whereby I hold for truth all that God has revealed to us in His Word2 but also a firm confidence2, which the Holy Spirit3 works in my heart by the gospel4, that not only to others, but to me also, remission of sins, everlasting righteousness and salvation5, are freely given by God, merely of grace, only for the sake of Christ's merits6.
